About Project Nero

Project Nero is a student led documentary project in citizen journalism. Through civic engagement, Project Nero hopes to begin a serious climate change discussion between the Florida legislature and the citizens who elect them. The group also hopes to answer two key questions; who is blocking proactive climate legislation in the state of Florida and why?

Named for the fifth emperor of Rome who is rumored to have “fiddled while Rome burned”, Project Nero hopes to begin an intervention against the apathy that Florida’s legislature and many of the state’s citizens have toward climate change and its possible effects.

By beginning this experiment in practivism, (a 21st century word that combines “practical” and “activism”) Project Nero hopes to challenge climate change deniers in order to help Floridians understand the direct economic and environmental effects that global warming can have on this state.
